Trident Literacy Association offers individualized and small group instruction for adults that gets results.
Our Programs
Students benefit from our self-paced study programs, tailored to meet their needs.
Study groups have 5 or fewer students, making learning comfortable and easier.
One-on-one tutoring is available, with volunteer tutors who treat students with respect.
There is a one-time annual fee of $25 per student. There is no charge for senior citizens aged 65 and up.
Adult Basic Education (ABE) - This program serves students needing instruction in elementary level reading and math. All students are tested and given appropriate materials. Study and computer time are offered four days a week. Tutors are available, and one-on-one instruction is provided.
GED Preparation - This program serves adult learners who wish to achieve high school equivalency. Diagnostic testing permits customized, self-paced curriculum, allowing adults to focus on specific skills. The program also offers students a practice GED test before registering for the exam, which is conducted locally each month.
English as a Second Language (ESL) - ESL offers beginner, intermediate and advanced conversation classes for adults who want to learn to speak, write and communicate more effectively in English. Trained volunteers work diligently to teach conversational English, pronunciation, grammar and life skills.
Computer Basics - This course introduces the fundamentals of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Windows and internet usage.
Special programs are offered in Family Literacy, Workplace Literacy, Health Literacy, and Financial Literacy.
Arrangements can be made to provide instruction in the workplace. Classes are in many convenient locations in the tri-county.
